Job Summary
The Production Roaster at Mothership Enterprises, LLC plays an indispensable role in the tangible
processes that ensure the brand's promise is delivered to its customers. Training with the Head Roaster
and the Roastery team, you will learn about the roasting processes and hone in your craft to ensure each
batch achieves the desired profile.

A major chunk of your training and responsibilities will be in the realm of physical production. This involves
efficiently operating roasting machinery, ensuring beans are roasted to the stipulated standards, and
working with the roastery team to troubleshoot any technical snags that might emerge. Furthermore, you
will learn how to ensure that each batch is prepared for packaging, diligently checking that the beans'
quality and consistency align with the company's benchmarks.

Beyond the roasting, the Production Roaster is also trained in the crucial steps of packaging and prepping
products for delivery. This entails a keen attention to detail, ensuring that each package is sealed to
maintain freshness, labeled correctly, and ready for shipment. This training will involve learning logistics,
ensuring timely deliveries, coordinating with transportation teams and ensuring products reach their
destination in pristine condition.

Duties/Responsibilities
Conduct a thorough inspection and quality assessment of incoming coffee beans.
Implement appropriate storage practices to preserve bean freshness.
Maintain a well-organized inventory system for green beans, emphasizing the use of FIFO (First In,
First Out) principles.
Set up, calibrate, and operate roasting machinery effectively.
Ensure consistent adherence to predefined roast profiles, prioritizing uniformity and quality.
Periodically conduct sensory evaluations of roasted batches to ensure they meet flavor profile
standards.
Adjust roasting parameters as needed, considering factors such as bean origin, age, and moisture
content.
Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of roasting equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
Address any machinery malfunctions promptly, collaborating with technical support when
necessary.
Ensure proper post-roasting cooling of beans before the packaging process.
Actively engage in the packaging process, emphasizing effective sealing for bean freshness.
Address any quality concerns promptly, making required adjustments in the roasting process.
Maintain an open feedback loop with the Head Roaster and team members, actively contributing to
issue resolution and process improvements.
Ensure rigorous adherence to safety procedures during roasting and packaging activities.
Foster close collaboration with the Head Roaster, offering regular updates and seeking guidance
when necessary.
Maintain comprehensive and well-organized logs detailing daily roasting activities, bean utilization,
and inventory levels.
Promptly report any significant issues, deviations, or achievements to higher management,
contributing to overall process improvement.
Ability to work a minimum of 32 hours a week

Required Skills / Abilities/ Experience
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Ability to pour your passion into organized workflows.
Must have an eagle eye for details, and rock at juggling tasks.
Ability to follow all safe handling procedures and sanitation practices.
Prior experience in the coffee field is an added bonus.

Training
Participate in a specialized 480-hour training program crafted for the Production Roaster role.
Elevate your roasting skills and operational expertise to ensure the meticulous crafting of
coffee, maintaining high-quality standards in every batch.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift over 50 pounds at times.
Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
